Best Promising Three AI Crypto Projects to Skyrocket in 2023?

The AI market continues to grow each year and is expected to reach $42.4 billion in 2023. ¹

There a number of cryptocurrency projects that are tapping into this industry. Here we look at three promising Artificial Intelligence (AI) crypto coins that look positioned to have a good year in 2023 crypto market and beyond.

These AI crypto projects will be analysed and rated by: Project Team, Token Metrics, Funding, GIthub Activity, Partnerships, Uniqueness, Roadmap, Exchange Listings & Community.

Matrix AI Network (MAN)

MAN Project Team

MatrixAI Network has 19 employees listed on LinkedIn. ² The CEO is Owen Tao, who has held the CEO position in several high-tech startup companies. He led the development and operation of China’s first cross- border e-commerce platform, which attracted 20 million users around the world. Also on board the team is Ethan Tian who is the Research & Development Director, having extensive Project Management experience for companies such as Microsoft Asia-Pacific. Steve Deng the Chief Scientist at MatrixAI Network, is also a professor at Tsinghua University, and holds a PhD.

The Matrix AI Network team is solid core group, with a lot of education, experience and networks in the industry.

$12.59 million was raised from their ICO, which happened on 17 January 2018. ³ I have not seen evidence of any other funding or venture capital.

MAN Github Activity

MatrixAI Network has zero commits on all of its GitHub repositories for the past year. The Matrix team have previously stated that not everything will be published on Github. We have to take their word for it and do not know if they are making progress.

It is a decent list of partners, with other crypto businesses, AI platforms and research centres.

MAN Uniqueness

Matrix states that its project has three stages:

1. Blockchain Platform

2. Decentralised cloud computing platform

3. Digital asset authentication platform/Digital asset trading platform

MatrixAI Network wants to bring the Matrix films to real life. They claim they users will be able to store their brain wave data to create their individual avatars through Avatar Intelligence powered by Matrix’s distributed computing. This will be avaiable in Stage Three with the digital platform. ⁵ Very interesting! I have not seen another project doing this, though users will need to buy wearable devices. How much will these cost? And what Metaverse will be used? Well they claim that their avatars will be able to uploaded to any Metaverse platform to use! Sounds good.

Matrix’s core PoW algorithms include AI algorithms, which means the PoW mining process creates value for society. Secondly, Matrix adopts an election-based PoW mechanism so that the unelected miners of each mining cycle may lease out their spare computing power for profit.

If Matrix achieves everything it is aiming for and partners with a big Metaverse such as The Sandbox or Decentraland, then it will be quite unique.

MAN Roadmap

MatrixAI Network has split its project into three stages. Along with this, it has documents explaining each Stage, ‘Whitepaper’, ‘Greenpaper’ and ‘Blueprint’. It is currently in ‘Stage 3.0’, outlined in the Blueprint document, which itself has four ‘Phases’.

In the Blueprint document, it has only outlined Phase 1, which has all the dates and milestones taking it to the end of 2024. It is very detailed, though if it’s taking two years to complete one Phase, with another 3 Phases to go, what are the other 3 Phases of Stage 3.0? Will those also take two years each? Taking it until 2032 until all Phases are completed? ⁶

It is very ambitious and detailed nevertheless.

MAN has set itself some high goals. It is trying to innove crypto AI technology and utilise AI in ways that has not been done before such as using brain wave data in the Metaverse. If it succeed it should be big.

DeepBrain Chain (DBC)

DBC Project Team

DeepBrain Chain has 14 employees listed on LinkedIn. ⁷ Yong He is the CEO and Founder of DeepBrain Chain. During 2012-2016, he was the CEO at Juentropy Information Technology, another AI startup that focuses on the R&D and operation of mobile Internet mobile voice intelligent interactive products.

Yong He and has dedicated much of his life to AI technology research and development. He started research on utilising AI in the blockchain industry in 2014. He lead the research and development of the first Chinese, Smart 360, which was very successful in China. Yong He has been tirelessly focusing all of his efforts to DBC since its inception in 2017.

DeepBrain Chain does not have any other noteworthy people on it’s team.

DBC Funding

DeepBrain Chain held their Initial Coin Offering (ICO) on December 15, 2017 and sold approximately $11.8 million worth of DBC.

An undisclosed amount of corporate funding was raised from Gobi Partners in 2018, and a then in 2019 a further $4.92 was raised from GSR Ventures Managment Co. ⁸

Over recent years, DeepBrain Chain has a history of mismanaging funding, and there was some speculation that the company had gone bankrupt in 2019. Yong He admitted that the project “suffered pitfalls both in regards to the overall market and also some of our own choices that were less than optimal”. Further adding fuel to the fire, were strange tweets coming from the company’s official Twitter page, appearing to be either from hackers or disgruntled employees. These tweets have since been deleted.

DBC Github Activity

I have been reguarly checking the DeepBrain Chain Github repository over the past few years, noticing that they are very active – submitting commits to the main chain every day. However, these commits are coming from one single user ‘kaigedong’.

The DeepBrain Chain website lists the following investment partners:

There is a lack of information about DBC’s current partnerships, besides investment partners. In 2018, it was annouced that DeepBrain Chain had partnered with SingularityNET, who were utilising their cloud computing services. However it is unknown if this partnerships still remains.

DBC Uniqueness

DeepBrain Chain have been around since late 2017 and are aiming to monetize ai services, by providing decentralised low-cost, high-performance computing power to companies on demand, specifically for AI processes. They aim to do this using smart contracts on the Polkadot network.

DeepBrain Chain state its mission as “to accelerate the advancement of artificial intelligence in an era that is undergoing an explosion of smart devices, the data they acquire and their computational
needs.” ¹⁰

Though, MatrixAI Network aims to do computer power leasing on its blockchain on top of all of its other AI features. If Matrix AI Network succeeds, it would put DBC obselete as it has a plethora of other features.

Uniqueness Rating: 5/10

DBC Roadmap

DeepBrainChain have successfully achieved everything on their previous Roadmaps and have the development history listed on their website. However, they have not shown us a new or recent Roadmap, so the public really does not know of any upcoming events or what they are currently working on. I’ll give it a 5/10 simply due to the fact, that they seem to deliver when they do set targets dates.

DBC Exchange Listings

DBC is currently listed on the following exchanges:

• BitBNS

The token was previously listed on Kucoin, However in October 2021, Kucoin delisted it due the token being “disqualified” according to the exchange’s special treatment rules. ¹¹ However, it is speculated that Kucoin asked for a sum of money in exchange for processing their token swap. Upon which DeepBrain Chain was unable or did not wish to pay.

DBC Conclusion

DeepBrain Chain is a solid project with a clear problem that they are solving and the need for such a product. However there is a lot to be desired in terms of project management, partnerships, and relationships in the crypto community. Poor decisons and events such as fund mismanaging have been hurting this project’s potential. The token lacks any big exchange listings. However they seem to be aiming for a solid product first, then maybe the rest will follow.

Ben Goertzel is the CEO and Founder of SingularityNET. Ben has a PhD in Mathematics, is a cognitive scientist, and has been involved in AI research for decades. He is also the leader of the OpenCog foundation, an open source AI framework and helped popularise the term ‘artificial intelligence.

You also have Mario Casiraghi on the team as Head of Crypto. Mario is the Co-Founder of SingularityDAO, which is a spin-off project community governed DeFi Protocol allows other projects to come into the SingularityNET ecosystem. You can think of SingularityDAO as SingularityNET’s little brother. ¹³

Furthermore, AGIX has a solid team large team of engineers, advisors, and industry professionals. Hence I’m giving it an 8/10.

In total SingularityNET has raised $66 million over six rounds of funding, including the ICO. ¹⁵

AGIX Uniqueness

Here’s what makes SingularityNET unique. It has created a platform that allows AI creators to collaborate through interoperability using ‘Agent’s.

The platform allows anyone to monetize their AI algorithms, which can be bought and sold in quantity. The team’s experience with the OpenCog Foundation is the basis for this platform, and they will utilise its resources.

A humanoid robot named Sophia was built to demonstrate these AI capabilities. In order to operate, Sophia uses a number of AI Agents that range from processing languages to actual motor skills. A person tells Sophia to summarise a Youtube video that embedded in a web page. Sophia sends this request to Agent A, though Agent A does not know how to do this, but knows Agent W specalises in transcribing video, while Agent D specalising in summarising the text.

Agent A outsources these tasks to Agent W and Agent D and pays them over the blockchain, using the AGIX token. Each Agent updates its own information through the tasks involved, and the system as a whole grows smarter at a faster rate in comparison to any individual Agent.

As a result, AI Agents will eventually be able to produce completely new AI Agents from the facts that they obtain overtime. This causes the network to grow and self-organize automatically through machine learning. ¹⁷

A Roadmap page with estimated event dates can be found on the SingularityNET website, along with Status Updates and past Completed tasks. It is very brief, with no detail or break down of these, which is a bit disappointing. ¹⁸

AGIX is an ambitious project that had gained popularity very quickly. It has some of the top American AI researchers on its team with decades of experience. It is listed on the biggest exchanges and has a large social following.

In this article, we have dived into some of the most well-established artificial intellgicence crypto coins.

SingularityNET is one of the most solid AI crypto projects. It looks to solve the autonomous interaction between AI agents by creating a very complex machine learning interoperoble decentralized network.

The runner-up, Matrix is creating its own network to solve the same problem. Furthermore trying to provide computing power and enter the Metaverse.

Meanwhile DeepBrainChain are focused solely on providing such applications decentralised computing power.
